Rising Intact Auto Insurance Rates

Rising Intact Auto Insurance Rates

My wife and I have been loyal customers with the same company now (Intact Auto Insurance) for about 10 years.

We've been claim free, have clean driving records, and every year when renewal is up, our rates keep going up!!!

What's the deal??? We are being punished for the bad drivers, and there are plenty out there!!

We've had enough and now I'm out shopping around. My name is Tom Brayley and I hope Intact is reading this because you're losing my business.

Hi Tom,

What a rotten shame! I certainly don't blame you for switching insurance companies to get a better deal. Intact should be doing their best to keep good customers like you rather than raising their rates and chasing them away!

If you haven't found your new insurance company yet, try Kanetix Insurance. You just fill out their free quote form and they'll give you rates from several companies at once.

Let us know who you end up choosing.

They're going to lose our business too!
by: Marcus

Same deal here.... House insurance went up by 500 $ a year this year.... About 40% more expensive than last year!!!

House value did NOT go up, no changes, no renovations, and NO claims to the cie....

And the company defend itself saying : We had to many claims this year..... so most people gets an Premium increase.....

ReallY????????????? Well they'll have a costumer decrease then!
I Drove by State Farm... Brand new policy, on a higher house estimation, 500 $ cheaper!

I leave in Ottawa area, Canada. (Roughly)

Intact Insurance Losing Business
by: Angie

Hi Marcus,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get such a better deal with State Farm for your home insurance. That's really the only recourse we have as consumers - change insurance companies!

I can only assume that you aren't the only customer that Intact is losing over their decision to continue to raise rates on clients who haven't done anything to deserve it.

I'm always surprised, though, when I talk to people who put up with that kind of behavior from their insurance company without looking into the many alternatives.

I'm not sure if they just don't realize that there is a difference in price when you shop around, or if they just can't be bothered to take the time to do it. It's a mystery to me!

I hope State Farm Insurance turns out to be a great move for you over the long term.

I'm changing too

10 years... no claims. My premium finally made me mad enough that I've shopped around. I now have more coverage for about 1/3 the price.

Thanks Intact for giving yourself a 20% premium on my bike renewal. Will not be renewing at end of contract.

40% increase of home insurance NEW
by: Denise

Hello we too have been with Intact for over 10 years and were very pleased with their service. We have had no claims and accepted their regular yearly increases but this year when we received our home policy it went up by 40% which is unacceptable. We are now in the process of obtaining quotes from different companies and have found that most are 40% less than Intacts so we will definitely be cancelling our home and also our auto insurance with them this June due to this. My recommendation is to shop around, Intact is not the only game in town and in our case the savings of over $500.00 per year was definitely worth our hours worth of time. If we had a claim this might have been accepted but when you are claim free!!!
