Cheap Car Insurance In Australia

Looking for Cheap Car Insurance in Australia? There are a few things you should know in order to find the best prices.

First of all, don't settle for the first quote you get! It may turn out to be the best deal in the end, but you won't know that for sure unless you shop around.

Take advantage of the competition in the current market and use it to negotiate cheaper Australia auto insurance premiums.

Your Compulsory Third Party Insurance (CTP) is included in your registration. You get to nominate which insurer gets your CTP.

The rates between companies for CTP are very similar so you are only going to save a few dollars by checking around.

Yes, I'm a "penny pincher" so I do try to save even those few dollars.  Don't laugh!  :-)

When it comes to the optional types of Australian auto insurance coverage, you can do much better than a couple of dollars in savings. Here are some tips to get the lowest premiums:

  1. Don't get more insurance than you need. If you have an older vehicle, consider skipping the comprehensive coverage. Unless you get a policy with an "agreed value" you will only get the actual market value if it comes down to a claim. If your car isn't worth much, you may just want to assume the risk yourself.

  2. Get the highest Excess possible. You can save a lot on your premium rate if you opt for a higher excess. The excess is the amount you will have to pay if you make a claim. It is sometimes referred to as a "deductible." If you do take this option, it is a good idea to set aside the amount of your excess in savings so that you will have it, "just in case."

  3. Insure named drivers only. If you are sure you won't be loaning your car out for any reason, ask for coverage for named drivers only. Some companies will offer you a discount in your rates if you limit the covered drivers.

  4. Get all your insurance from one company. If you have home and contents insurance, life insurance, or any other type of insurance coverage, try to move it all to one company. This will make you eligible for multiple policy discounts.

  5. Get multiple quotes and compare prices. You can use the internet to get a number of online quotes and do a comparison to find the best one. If you'd prefer to talk to a "real" person, just ring to finalize the deal. However, most companies offer another discount if you buy your policy online. :-)

If you keep these tips in mind while shopping for cheap car insurance in Australia, you will most likely get the best premium quote for your circumstances.

Be safe on the roads!
