If you're looking for Assurant auto insurance coverage, let me tell you right up front that you're out of luck.
Assurant Solutions does offer a wide range of insurance products, including insurance for life, health, property, dental, disability, renters, mortgage, and more.
I can't really tell you why, but Assurant does not offer typical car insurance - like liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage.
Having said that, they DO offer protection for you automobile with a product you may not have considered but might find extremely beneficial. I'm talking about a vehicle protection plan.
The Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan is a product that comes in mighty handy if you have a mechanical breakdown.
Depending on the make, model, and value of the vehicle you own, a breakdown could be a minor event, or a major expense.
A few years ago we had a quite unexpected and unpleasant mechanical breakdown that really hurt the hip pocket.
We were far from home and driving through Boston when the transmission in our Ford Aerostar went kaput! Ugh!
Thankfully, we were able to make it to the next exit which happened to have a transmission repair shop just around the bend. In spite of that blessing, it still cost us over $2000 to get the transmission replaced so that we could be on our way again.
Let me tell you, having some type of vehicle protection plan would have really come in handy right about then. As it was, we had to foot the entire bill ourselves, and we definitely didn't have a spare two grand lying around at the time.
So even though you can't really purchase Assurant auto insurance, considering the Assurant Vehicle Protection Plan may be worth your while.
I do have some good news. You can get free car insurance quotes from plenty of other companies quite easily. Here are a few of my favorite places to do comparison shopping:
In spite of the fact that Assurant auto insurance is off the table, I thought it might be a good idea to tell you a bit more about Assurant Solutions in case you do decide to check out their vehicle protection plan.
The company itself traces its roots back to the 1890's when it began offering disability insurance; under a different name, of course. Back then the company was known as the LaCrosse Mutual Aid Association.
The company has morphed several times over the century to blend and merge with other financial service providers and insurance groups to form what is now Assurant, Inc.
As far as I can tell, Assurant seems to have a pretty good reputation for offering quality products and services in their own specialize field. The health insurance industry appears to be their primary focus but, as I mentioned early on, they deal in a variety of specialty insurance products.
Of course, you know we are always open to publishing customer reviews, so if you've had any personal experience with Assurant, please do feel free to add your own Assurant customer review and we'll add it below.
Insurance companies can be a bit of a pain, or they can be a real blessing in your time of need. What's been your experience with the company you've had to deal with? We really DO want to know.
Tell us the good news or the bad and let other consumers know the real truth.
