Did you know that Barry Manilow wrote that jingle for State Farm car insurance way back in 1971, before he became so famous? I'm not quite sure if it's the sentiment or the sound, but I get a real nostalgic sense when I hear that tired old tune. :) Sentiment aside, there's a lot more to State Farm auto insurance than a lovely old memory. State Farm has a pretty impressive history of being the absolute #1 insurance company in America for nearly 60 years. It's pretty tough to stay at the top of the game in your industry for such a lengthy time without doing something right! Back in 1922, George Jacob Mecherle (better known as "GJ") started State Farm insurance because of his desire for people to be treated fairly in regards to their auto insurance. Novel idea, eh? Guess how much State Farm's very first auto insurance policy cost its first customer? A whopping $22.34 for an entire year. :) Sure, back in the 1920's that was a big chunk of change, but still it brings a grin to my face when I think of what we pay now for car insurance! As technology progressed, so did State Farm Ins. They began offering 24 hour service when the demand arose so that their customers would always be able to get the service they needed when they needed it. I have to admit that I've read a lot of reviews about State Farm Ins where the customers complain that they have difficulty maneuvering around the new State Farm website, but they usually have good things to say about the company itself. One would assume that a company like State Farm will take their customers' advice and make the site more user friendly. ;) Our Canadian visitors will be glad to know that State Farm Insurance is available in Canada, too. I'm not personally covered by State Farm at this present time, but they are certainly among the handful of insurance companies that I seriously consider when getting my auto insurance quotes.
