State Farm Insurance Ohio

by Scott
(Delaware, OH, USA)

I have used State Farm Insurance, Ohio, for my car insurance since I was 16 years old (I am now 37).

I never really chose State Farm Ins. My parents used this company and they started me out using them when I first got my driver's license and I have just stayed with them all these years.

I am fairly happy with them. They seem to have fair rates when I compare them to my other friends who are not with State Farm.

I have used many different State Farm Insurance agents with the company due to moving to various different cities through the years. Most are nice but all are sales people (i.e. they pressure you to get more than you need and to upgrade all the time).

My current State Farm representative is not very friendly and just wants you to sign up for more and more policies. His staff, however, is wonderful.

The only real complaint that I have with State Farm in general is that they advertise that you have access to your account and everything 24-7. This is not true.

There have been a few times where I have needed policy information after hours and when you call their 800 number for information at the State Farm Insurance offices, all they will do is take a message to deliver it

to your representative to call you back during normal hours. That is just a waste of my time and money if you ask me.

I have only had one claim with them and it went very smoothly. They did not hike my rates either.

They also offer multiple policy discounts (i.e. I get my homeowners insurance through them too, and thus I pay less for my car insurance). They also offer online bill pay, paperless billing, and monthly billing verses 2 times a year payments.

I would recommend them if asked, but I do not go around talking about how great they are in general.

Hi Scott,

That's an interesting review for State Farm Insurance in Ohio. You definitely should be getting better rates than your friends if you have been with the company for over 20 years.

Next time you're up for renewal, I'd make a point of asking for a loyalty discount. To make it most effective, get a couple of free online quotes and use them as ammunition (in the nicest possible way, of course) when you call your State Farm agent.

More than likely, they'll lower your rates to keep you - why would they want to give up another 20 years of almost free money?

Thanks for taking the time to tell us your experiences with Ohio State Farm.
