Review of Progressive Northwestern Insurance

I have been with Progressive Northwestern Insurance for over 20 years now, and have filed 2 claims with them.

The Progressive agents gave me fast courteous service without any hassle at all. Both of my claims were paid very quickly without ever threatening to cancel my insurance.

The Progressive Northwestern rates are as good, if not lower than, most other insurance companies. I have recommended Progressive previously, and I will continue to do so.

Regards,
Larry

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the Progressive Northwestern Insurance review. I'm showing my ignorance here, but my first thought was to wonder if Progressive Northwestern is the same company as Progressive Insurance, or if they aren't related at all.

I guess that's something I'm going to have to do a bit of research on. :-) If you are getting good rates from them and enjoying satisfactory customer service, then I guess they would be worth checking into.

I always think it's wise to shop around, 'cause you just never know what you'll discover. You may decide to stay with the company you've been with, or that you are vastly overpaying. You don't know 'till you check.

Thanks again for your review.

***Update***

After a little looking around it appears that Progressive Northwestern is a company that is located in Cleveland, Ohio, which is the company that I suspect Larry has been dealing with.

Upon further searching, I discovered that there are other states that also offer this insurance coverage, but that it all seems to be related to the well known Progressive insurance company.

I suspect that these are independent agents who are promoting Progressive insurance under this modified name.

PROGRESSIVE NORTHWESTERN NEW

I am an Allstate agent. Every insurance company has various company names they write under. Example, Allstate has Allstate County Mutual, Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company, among others. Each company will place a customer with one of their "companies" depending on their level of risk and what type of insurance they are purchasing. Each major company (i.e. Progressive, Allstate, State Farm, etc.) has different companies for each type of insurance (home, auto, life, etc.) that they offer, and within those categories, for different risk placement. Allstate's standard company for low-risk auto in Texas, for example, is Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company right now. Their non-standard company is used for higher risk individuals, and the Texas non-standard currently being used is Allstate County Mutual. Each of these companies, however, is owned exclusively by Allstate. Their are individual agencies that sell Allstate policies, but these usually do not have Allstate in their agency name. I hope this helps!

An Insurance Company By Any Other Name... NEW

Hi Trista,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and insights on how insurance companies work with and through various entities. It's great to have an Allstate insurance agent weigh in on the question and help explain the finer points that often cause confusion to consumers.
