Insurance companies are scary to me. I never had a good experience with one until I had to file a claim on my auto insurance with the Progressive Insurance Co.


I was helping my son push his car up onto a trailer after it had broken down on the freeway. It was raining that day and I should have been pushing with my back to the car, but I was pointed forward.


My right foot started to slip, but then grabbed real quick and I popped my Achilles tendon. I felt like I had been shot in the ankle. Well my other son and his friend came up and helped us finish the job.


I was in a lot of pain and finally went into the doctor at the University where I worked and had health insurance. Surgery was done to repair the tendon, and I was in a cast, not able to put any weight on my leg for at least 6 weeks.


During that time, the doctor and the hospital filed the claims. I got a call from the insurance company asking me what happened. I told them and they explained to me that my claim was one that should be covered by my auto insurance. Boy, was I surprised!


My wife called Progressive Insurance Company. We had never made a claim before, and I really didn't see how auto insurance would cover a severed Achilles tendon.


The Progressive insurance agent didn't even act surprised and told us that, yes indeed, it was covered. Not only that, but they covered more than my health insurance would have covered. She explained that since I was pushing a car when the accident happened, it was covered.


All I can say is that I'm glad I was pushing a car up onto the trailer and not a refrigerator!


On top of that, my rates did not go up. Needless to say, I am a loyal customer to Progressive Auto.

What a story! I cringed when I read about your tearing tendon. I can well imagine the pain and dismay you must have felt. Ugh!


I think most people would be like you, and not even think about their auto insurance covering the type of injury you suffered.


I'm pleased to hear that you had such a pleasant experience with Progressive Insurance Co. and that they took care of your claim so quickly and thoroughly.


I hope your Achilles has healed up properly and that you have no lasting ill effects.
