My car was destroyed by elephants!!!

My car was destroyed by elephants!!!

I know it sounds like something out of a movie or a story a little kid said... but it is true and yes, the insurance paid.

This happened to my husband's father when he was 9 years old.

The circus came to town and in Nebraska/Wyoming border that is big news. His father had just bought his first "new" car, he had always got used ones and was trying to keep it without a scratch.

So, he took the family to the circus but instead of parking beside all of the other cars he parked it in the field next to the parking lot so that other cars would not hit it or make a scratch to it. He locked it up and they went into the circus.

Of course, the kids were all excited and when the show was over they stood in line with the rest of the people to get out.

Instead of being something that would take a few minutes people stood and watched as two elephants took the car and turned it around, pushed it, crushed it, sat on it, etc.

He just stood there and watched it all without saying a word.

The Circus was using that lot to put the elephants and, of course, these playful animals decided to have a bit of a play with the closest object... his car.

He filed the paper work and everything seemed ok. Eventually an insurance adjuster came to the farm and asked if it was true and requested proof of it... well suffice to say that the picture of the car was in first page in the newspaper.

The claim was paid and of course he never bought a new car again.

Hi Amanda,

Thank you for the very funny insurance claim story. Your poor father-in-law! What a shock that must have been.

I hope he had a sense of humor! :)

I guess we need to get signs that say, "Watch out for elephants!"

Thanks again for taking the time to tell us about it. I really enjoy funny insurance claims and this one made me grin.

Safe Driving (and parking)!
