A Car Insurance Lower Rate...

...that's what most people are after every year when their auto insurance premiums are due.

I am no exception!  How about you?

I'm always looking for ways to lower auto insurance rates so that I can save some money.

Really, I have to say I'm very thankful that I haven't had to actually use my car insurance in years! What a blessing!

But at the same time, I hate having to pay for things I don't use. Do you know what I mean?

I'm the type that always overeats at a buffet because "I've got to get my money's worth." And then I go around feeling miserable for hours afterward! Silly, I know, yet I will go ahead and stuff myself every single time. Ugh!

Thankfully, I'm a little more reasonable when it comes to auto insurance.

I do not deliberately go out and get in car accidents!

Because of that, I have to find different ways to get good value for money by finding more ways to lower my premium rates.

4 Ways To Lower Your Insurance Rates

Here are some pretty simple things you can do to bring down your auto insurance rates. If you haven't taken advantage of each of these options, you probably won't get a car insurance lower rate. You are leaving money on the table.

  1. Don't over insure - If you are putting more insurance on your vehicle than the actual value of the car, you are wasting your money. The insurance company is only going to reimburse you for the current market value of your automobile, no matter how much you insure it for.

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. If you have a classic or antique auto, you can get special insurance that will be for an agreed value.

  2. Raise your deductible - Keeping your deductible as high as possible brings down your premium rates. If you decide to go this route, it is a good idea to set aside the amount of your deductible in a special savings account, just in case. At the end of the day, if you are like me and don't have any claims, all that money is still yours. That is just the way I like it!

  3. Ask for discounts - There are a lot more discounts available than most people realize. You may know about the basic ones for multiple vehicles or good driving history. There are many other discounts you may be eligible to receive. You can get additional discounts for various safety features, defensive driving courses, low annual miles driven, and more.

If you don't ask for every discount by name, you aren't likely to get them. Be familiar with every discount you think you qualify for and be bold. Ask and save!

  4. Shop around - By doing some comparison shopping for auto insurance you can actually save a significant amount. The competitive nature of the insurance industry makes shopping around well worth the effort. Unless you are a completely dreadful driver with a horrible record, everyone wants your business. Make them earn it by being willing to go to someone else if they offer a better deal.

I hope you are able to take this list and save money this year on your auto insurance premiums. I'd love to hear back from you about how much you saved on your car insurance lower rate if you want to brag a little. :-) Go ahead and give us a review. Cheers!
