Auto Insurance Companies

gridlock by Curtis PerryThere are so many different Auto Insurance Companies. It can sometimes be confusing trying to decide which company is right for you and your family.

Recognize the importance of choosing a reliable company that will be there when the rubber hits the road, so to speak.

By no means do I recommend that you go with the most expensive quote just because the name seems to be one that you can trust, or perhaps is an agency that your family has used for decades.

There are other factors involved, and in our day of fierce competition, you should demand and expect a competitive quote.

Some of the companies that are the most reliable and well known are:
  • Progressive Insurance
  • Allstate Insurance
  • State Farm Insurance
  • Farmers Insurance
  • Nationwide Insurance
  • Safe Auto Insurance
  • Geico Insurance
  • AAA Auto Insurance
  • Safeco Insurance
  • Liberty Mutual Insurance
  • Metropolitan Life Insurance
  • 21st Century Insurance
I haven't listed these car insurance companies in any particular order, so don't think that I am recommending one auto insurance company over the other.

They each have their strong points, and, no doubt, weaker points. It is up to you, the buyer, to do some comparison shopping and come up with affordable auto insurance that is right for you and your situation.

Get Quotes From Several Companies At One Time

If you want to save yourself a lot of time, you can use a couple of these free quotes services sites that will take your details and quickly provide you with the best quotes from the companies listed above as well as a number of others.

Each of those links open in a new window so you can go through a few of them and see who comes up with the best quote from the different auto insurance companies.

Check With Your State Insurance Commissioner

Most states require that auto insurance companies and agents must be licensed to sell insurance. Before settling on an insurance company, take the time to confirm the credibility of your choice.

These are the questions you need to ask:

    1. Is the company licensed in your state?
    2. Is the company licensed to sell the type of insurance you are interested in purchasing?
    3. Is the agent licensed in your state and also a legitimate representative of the company?
    4. Does the company have a good record of handling policy complaints and claims?

These questions are especially important when you are getting an auto insurance online quote.

We didn't have to worry so much back in the days when we went into the office and sat down with an agent to discuss our options.

We saw their brick and mortar building and knew the fellow from church, the local PTA, or sporting club.

Now that we can get car insurance on line, we have to be a bit more careful. With all the skullduggery (I love that word) that goes on in the online world, the saying, "Buyer Beware" has never been more true.
