AAA Memberships As A Gift

by Christine McDonald
(Houston, Tx)

Last year I gave all my children and grandchildren AAA memberships as a gift for their birthdays and they loved it.

I felt secure that their needs would be attended to if I was not available. It is a gift that keeps on giving in an emergency, even for out of state loved ones.

Thx AAA for a job always well done.

Hi Christine,

What a great idea to buy AAA memberships as gifts for your kids. I purchased a AAA membership for my parents a couple of years ago, but for some strange reason I never thought to write about it here on the website and let everyone else in on the good idea. I'm so glad you did!

Most people know I'm not a huge fan of insurance in general because it seems like it is often poor value for money. Since we began this website and have received so many "horror stories" of how people who HAD insurance were still unable to be reimbursed for their losses, my opinion has been rather reinforced when it comes to certain insurance companies in particular.

However, when it comes to AAA membership, I don't feel that way at all. Perhaps it's because the membership fees are so reasonable at AAA. For less than $100 (usually much less), you get a year's worth of coverage and roadside assistance benefits.

Most of us won't get in a car accident each year, but I'm convinced that a much higher percentage of people will have some type of roadside difficulty each year - flat battery, run out of gas, locked the keys in the car, etc.

Just one such occurrence can cost more than the annual price of membership to AAA.

I completely understand what you mean by saying you get a sense of security by knowing your children have AAA as a back up plan in case you can't help them out when they get in a tight spot.

That's EXACTLY how I felt when purchasing AAA for my parents. I'm out of the country most of the year and I like knowing that they would have a source of help at hand that wouldn't cost them an arm and a leg should they need some assistance.

Since Christmas is right around the corner, this is a great time to remind all of our visitors to consider giving the gift of a AAA membership to someone they love. Thanks again for taking the time to nudge us in that direction. :)

Safe Driving!
