A Turkey for Thanksgiving

My mom was rushing out to the store the day before Thanksgiving to get a couple of last minute items for the big dinner.


As she was driving up a hill in the road, just above our house, she noticed a big dark "thing" coming across the road. It turned out to be a wild turkey that had decided to unsuccessfully fly across the road just as she was passing it


The turkey ended up landing on her front windshield before bouncing off and running into the woods. It left behind a large round hole in the windshield with cracked safety glass all around it.


The turkey also left her a present of one tail feather that my mother left in the glass as evidence for the insurance investigator. The claim was covered and they even provided a rental car for the holiday weekend.

I'm so glad that your mom wasn't hurt, though. Thank goodness for that shatterproof windshield they use these days.
